Attention all Secondary School Music Students residing in Simcoe County.
The Skyliners’ Big Band is sponsoring a younger version of themselves!
We are looking for area youth aged 20 and younger who play trumpet, trombone, alto, and tenor or baritone sax. As well, jazz vocalists and rhythm section members (piano, guitar, bass and drums) are needed.
As a potential member of the Skyliners’ Youth Big Band (SYBB), you will be given the opportunity to practice and perform Big Band music. Opportunities will exist to practice lead playing, soloing (ad lib and written), and ensemble music.
The Skyliners’ Youth Big Band will perform in and around the Barrie area and throughout the county as opportunities arise. As a member of the band, you are responsible for transportation to and from performances and rehearsal. Car-pooling is highly recommended!
What you can expect from us:
o Music to suit all levels from simple to challenging.
o Mentoring on your instruments from current members of the Skyliners’ and outside artists.
o Insights into Big Band music both past and present.

o To challenge yourself to be a better musician and person
o Punctuality and professionalism from yourself and your fellow band members.
Note: If you are selected for the band, a non-refundable fee for the program year is $100.00 and may be charged.
